as a Eiyuu Densetsu Sen no Kiseki fan, this feels like home!!! hope we get to see more of the game characters.

I don't need to see what is inside, just the name alone is enough to tell me this is what I wanted. Exciting fantasy stuff.

I really like the vibe of the name Northern War. It sounds great no matter how many times it is used.

Just imagine powerful warriors fighting against each other, at the freezing cold land where you can die any time. Danger lurking everywhere, especially the ferocious wolves that always prey on you 24/7 whenever you are out there.

If you found this interesting then you should probably check out the games as well.

I was thinking of waiting until this anime fully released whole episodes then marathon it.

Anime like this is best for marathon, the best way to enjoy it. There will be no cliffhanger if the next episode is already prepared :D

dude you should play the game, if you have a PS4 then you can play all 4 games by just download them from play station store, I bet the 4 games and I'm playing them again, almost done with the Trail of Cold Steel II

don't forget this takes place in-between the second game and the 3rd game

To be fair,i kind of vibe with Lavia,calm and collected but can screw enemy up if they attack.

It’s Trails series called
Legend of Heroes : Trails of Cold Steel.

Legend of Heroes game itself are many but Trails series are based on the same world continent in different country and different timeline. Currently they are up to the 5th installment already. (I didn’t count gaiden)

1st installment: Trails of Sky (have 3 games)
2nd installment: Trails of Zero and Trails of Azure
3rd installment : Trails of Cold Steel (have 4 games)
4th installment: Trails of Reverie
5th installment : Trails of Dawn (not official, the Japanese title is Kuro no Kiseki, which is the newest installment and the second game just release last year September)

Each installment have their own protagonist and different country told from different perspectives which is why if you want to know the detail of the game even it’s recommended you play all of it. (Except for Reverie which is story of combination of all previous installments protagonist) This anime is story which happen between Trails of Cold Steel II and Trails of Cold Steel III, in the game itself they didn’t tell the detail of what actually happen. (They only do some flashback of describing the event) So it’s actually new to the game player. I think all people will have their own opinion which installment is the best. Story wise Trails of Zero is really good. While my favorite is Cold Steel cause it’s a story of character growing

The series as a whole is called "The Legend of Heroes: Trails" often shortened as Trails or the JP name, Kiseki.

This anime takes place in between Trails of Cold Steel 2 and 3. Another person replied to you detailing the entire series, so if you haven't seen that reply please do.

If you're talking about the anime, it seems Lavi is the main character here.

You can't make a snowball out of salt though. I think this might be just snow :P Although I get where you're coming from.

Gorilla was a nice touch, since they usually serve as mini-bosses in games. The slimes though got me by surprise, as they usually are just an annoyance there :D (especially since they basically require you to kill them by magic, as they have very high physical defense)

Reminds me how hyped I was watching Legend of the legendary hero. Dude Lelouched everyone to death with his stigma. Now that I think about it he could be the original Cid from Shadow Garden. Atomized people for funsies and doing so laughing maniacally like Lelouche. Shame there was no season 2.

Edit: Wow the 1st minute felt like the Valkyria chronicle games with the unit armor and personnel.

imagine it as a cross between Tales of Symphonia and Persona 5 in Cold Steel 1, then it jumps to mechs and military plots and shit Code Geass style for Cold Steel 2, that's how bizarre and entertaining the game story is.

That was some amazing plot brought down by needless & plenty of comic relief.

Personally, I liked them both. They both end up with their special love through all the battles. I played Valkyrie chronicles 4 and loved Squad D? Or was it E? Anyways their family dynamics were great.

As for Welkin I don't remember I played that one like 4 yrs ago. I know that game got me into the anime as well as VC4. One of them had the snowy Witch.

speaking of love interest... i guess welkin won, coz he married a valkyria... its like the wonderwoman of DC.

Well it does look promising but I don't know sticking around for it since I wasn't really thrilled of last seasons game adapted anime that aired on Friday and this go around is stacked already (0.0)

yeap, i checked the game, it's another Final Fantasy clone, with likely nice plot. But i don't expect much from turn based rpg .

the differences of this game and final fantasy and what make this game is really unique is the story between each game is connected. it's like reading a novel but changes protagonist and perspective every 3 or 4 books. each protagonist have their own story but all leads to one major plot and when all characters from different games meet it feels like Avengers: End Game

Turn based RPGs are the best games there are.

depending on execution, most of time it takes 4ever to play even 1 game. Smart turn based RPGs try to reduce the annoyance of repeating the action, or some automatics.

I agree though, this series is awesome (the games) and I have high expectations for the anime.

Eiyuu Densetsu (英雄伝説) literally means Legend of Heroes.

As a Falcom fan, this is one of my most anticipated shows of this season.

For context: this story happens during the time skip between Cold Steel II and III. It might be hard to follow for anyone who isn't following this series so, I recommend playing the games (there are ONLY 11 games in the series in total as of the time of typing :P)

The chronological order of the games before the anime is as of the following:
- Trail in The Sky 1, 2, 3 (Liberl's story arc)
- Trail From Zero and Trail to Azure (Crossbell's story arc)
- Trail of Cold Steel 1 and 2 (Erebonia's story arc)

From the above list, only Liberl's story arc part 2 (Trail in the Sky 2) has an anime adaption and it was already uploaded to Gogo. Search for Eiyuu Densetsu: Sora no Kiseki.

Jun Fukushima plays as Iva really livens up the show, BTW.

Kiseki series has one of the most interesting worlds in jrpgs and the world building here is top notch enough to make several anime's off
